look up
As a pastor of a church, I often wonder how vulnerable my congregation and peers really want or wish me to be. The reality is, if I always shared what was in my head it wouldn’t be appropriate or beneficial (not that I’m proud of that). And yet I’m human.
One of the things I wrestle with is my tendency to see things from a negative perspective. What this means, is that when someone says something to me, I hear what what they say from a negative slant. Even if the comments are positive, I have to ask someone to point out the positive.
This is a problem. It’s a big problem. I’m working on it. This isn’t how I want to be.
If you’re like me then, then this is how you cure negative thinking: Colossians 3:1-17.
What an awesome reminder to stop looking down and start looking up! We don’t have to look at things negatively because Christ is on the throne and reigning over us. He is for us and not against us! Therefore even if something is meant to be negative, God will make it positive.
Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
What situations are keeping you down? What is causing you to be negative? Put those things to the side. Christ died for us, so we can have a joyful and abundant life, and not one filled with negativity.
Be positive! God is on the throne!
