Jeff Galloway

Many of you know that I am training for the Country Music Half-Marathon with Powered by Hope and New Hope Academy. The people there are absolutely awesome and have such big hearts for the children in the community. To partner with them in my training was a no-brainer – know what I mean?

Anyway, we are training with Olympian Jeff Galloway’s running program. I have to say, it is ridiculously good. I am running distances that I’m not used to, and actually coming away injury free and ready to run the next day. Although, I’m going to run the half-marathon, I truly believe that I could run the full if I wanted using his system.

So here’s the deal, Alyson and I have two of his training books, but we only need one. So, I am going to give away my copy. I promise, if you are interested at all in running, any distance for that matter, you WANT/NEED to use his system. It works, and it keeps you motivated!

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, and February 1, 2010, I will randomly pick the winner! Good luck runners, or about to be runners!

  3. I’d enter to win, but if I ran I would keel over and have an asthma attack. However, I shall enter on behalf of my favorite sister in the entire world (my only sister lol). She has done either a marathon or a half marathon. And I know she would love that book. I shall stick to walking and may do something involving k’s this year :)

  5. My wife started running and it looks like I’ll be joining her, all 215 lbs of me. Not looking forward to it, but I know I need to.

The new blog looks swell. Keep writing.

  13. Love the new blog! And I am game too – great motivational idea! I never made it past little 5k’s thus far, but sure am going to try this year! Although: those 5 k’s were a lot of work for me already – am sooo not a “natural” in that department, it’s actually really hard work for me. but a few years back I lost a lot of weight with it, and it was very rewarding to be back in shape. Last year, a little illness, followed by some weight gain kept me off the roads for most of it, but I just started training again, and can’t wait to be back up to par! Goal: 5k’s by mid spring and maybe even a half marathon by the end of the year… :)

  16. You have *no idea* how much I need this book! I’m gearing up for the muddy buddy run in May (in Nashville!!) and even though it’s only 7 miles, I don’t feel like I’m ready. I need all the help I can get!

  17. Matthew, I used to hate running. Started twice, quit twice. Then a friend introduced me to Galloway’s method. I never had to think about more than 6 minutes at a time and that always seemed do-able. That was 3 1/2 years ago. I have since run 4 half marathons, 1 of those UP Pikes Peak, and 3 marathons. You CAN do it.

    Godspeed!

  21. Hey, Matt. I would love to have one of his books. I’m training for first 1/2 Marathon (end of February) and really want to try to come out for the Country Music 1/2 as well (we’ll see…). I’m in my early 30’s and, prior to about October, the farthest I had ever run was about 400 meters…in high school. Needless to say, I have some “catching up” to do.

  32. All you young tweeters. I have never been in a race, run, marathon, of any kind, but I am working on the Turkey Trot in November in my home town. A 5K walk/run. Will decide the closer I am to registration. Hope to be in shape to run. Send me some pointers along the way. Good luck to you and Alyson. Let us know and we will be there to cheer you on.

  33. I have totally strayed from working out and I miss it so much! I have gained 15 pounds in C1 year!!! WHAT!!! I also have high blood pressure these days….feel sorry for me yet?? No, that all true but I do not want, need, desire pity. I want motiviation. I used to run with my dad everyday growing up – I did it at first so that I could ‘watch’ after him and make sure he returned! haha But, then I really desired being healthy and looking fit. In 2004-2005, I gave my runs to Jesus as my own, unique form of worship! I-pod turned up and just totally singing and running all for my Lord. I want that back. I got the music, I got the heart, I just need a kick in the butt – or a good book!! Ashley

  34. Hmmm…this involves running a lot doesn’t it? Emmmm…no thanks. I’ll leave that to the professionals and the certified lunatics. :D
Hope it goes well bro. Enjoy the running! (Now if that’s not a serious contradiction in terms I don’t know what is!!)

p.s. You may have gathered that the book would be wasted on me…so “Don’t pick me! Don’t pick me!!” :)
