I'm sorry I missed your notifications on this sad time Matt. I've only just read your blog.

Life is very complex and there really is a story behind each one of our faces.

I know what it is to be depressed and to hear those subtle arguments in my head to take my own life.

I don't claim to comprehend even a fraction of what happens in life, but I simply cling to this one truth that keeps me afloat when the waves rise...Jesus loves me and He loves everyone else in the same way.
For those who struggle with life like your dear friend - Jesus loves them. For those who despair - Jesus loves them. For all of us who are broken and wounded...Jesus loves us.

My hope is simply in the fact that God loves us and He understands that we don't work quite right because of sin. On the cross Jesus said "Forgive them Father, for they don't know what they do." Luke 23v 34
We really don't know what we are doing sometimes...but Jesus has already provided His love for us - His tender, caring love.

"For we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love..." 1 John 4 v 16

I have a friend who lost his brother that way and it is a painful area for him and his family and it was 9 years ago. The older I get the more brokeness and pain I see in the world and the more I have began to see there is no hope apart from Christ for this world.
