Spirit or Flesh?
Happy Easter, a day late!!!
I hope you all had a great, relaxing day yesterday resting in the fact that our Savior has risen. For us, that means we don’t have to fear anything. We can go forward with the confidence that Christ has conquered the World! And more importantly has left His Spirit with us to help us conquer it!
As much as we have the Holy Spirit we have each other as well. Continue to encourage me, your friends, family, etc in their faith. Simple encouragement goes a long way you know. Even in Mark 3:5, Jesus is talking to a man with a withered hand. He simply said to the man to “stretch out your hand.” So basically what happened was Jesus encouraged, the man believed, the man acted, the man was healed.
Even for my own life, I can do way more things, and be more effective in those things, if I think and know I have the encouragement and support of my friends. The truth is that when we encourage each other a lot can happen. None of us has the power to heal someone on our own. However, we do have the power to pray for each other and encourage each other in the faith.
My roommate Rusty has a saying on the mantle of the fireplace in his room. It says “Spirit or Flesh?” It basically means, we can chose to live in the Spirit today or we can chose to live in our flesh. In our Flesh, we have the power to do nothing but be defeated. In the Spirit, we have the power to live as Christ and conquer!
When we choose to live in the Spirit, we can take our “witheredness” and make it straight. We won’t have to medicate our problems, we can begin to conquer them! We won’t have to act like we have all our junk together, we can live in the relief that God’s Spirit is with us so we don’t have to fear (anything or anyone).
For when God is with us and for us, who can be against us! The truth is a lot of people, but God won! Remember, He conquered the World and that lets Him have the last word! Not just over justice issues, but the issues we try to hide in our life.
Choose today to live in the Spirit that Jesus has left for us! I know it sounds somewhat silly, but simply say out loud, “Today I am going to live in the Spirit.” By living in the Spirit, you and I can begin to conquer this World. And through the Spirit, we can encourage one another to remain strong and believe that it’s possible.
Thanks Rusty for your example. You are an encouragement to me.
